How to do it
- Hold a barbell at your thighs, legs nearly straight with a fixed, slight knee bend.
- Keeping the knees stiff, hinge at the hips and lower the bar toward the floor.
- Keep your back flat and the bar close to your legs.
- Drive your hips forward to stand tall, knees staying fixed.
Beginner tips
- Hold the same slight knee bend the whole rep, don't re-bend or squat down.
- Move from the hips with stiff legs, that is what loads the hamstrings.
- Keep your back flat and only go as low as your flexibility allows.
Keep in mind: Use a light weight first; stiff legs make the hamstrings work hard.
